Welcome! I’m Lawrence Missakian.
My goal with TheHealthyHubby.com is to share my experiences about health and food and to build an online community to share recipes, tips and ideas. A place where you can ask questions and (hopefully) get meaningful answers. I want TheHealthyHubby.com to give you tools to encourage a healthy, happy lifestyle.
I believe that food is at the heart (no pun intended) of our health problems. Like so many people, I used to believe that there were safeguards in place to protect us from unhealthy, harmful foods. Associations such as the USDA, FDA, American Heart Association, etc. were all there to ensure me that the food I was putting into my body was healthy. Well, over the past few years I’ve come to learn that is far from the truth. My family completely changed the way we eat and the way we view food. Building off the principles of the Paleo, Low-carb high fat, and Weston A. Price philosophies, I truly believe that we are on a happier and healthier path.
I believe you must do your own research, don’t blindly trust what you read in the headlines or what you hear in a sound-bite on the radio, or even what your doctor or nutritionist says (the so-called “experts”) when it comes to nutritional advice.
To illustrate, below is a chart from a National Survey of 109 medical schools. The required number of hours for nutrition education is a whopping (sarcasm) 25 hours. So out of 4 years of medical school, the required amount of education devoted to nutrition is 1 hour more than a Twilight Zone marathon! The national survey showed that only 28 out of 105 schools (4 didn’t respond), met or exceeded the minimum required. Pretty sad in my opinion and shows that nutrition is not a priority in the medical profession.
Through posts, videos, recipes and tips, I hope to grow the Healthy Hubby community. Sharing knowledge and experiences, you’ll learn practical wisdom from me and your peers. I truly believe in the wisdom of crowds.
I encourage you to subscribe to The Healthy Hubby newsletter to be notified of new posts, deals or other interesting tidbits of information – it’s FREE and it beats having to randomly check back to the site to see if there are new recipes or articles. I promise I won’t flood your inbox. My commitment is to bring you the very best of what I’m living and learning and to keep it real and honest as I go.
